Ruby Cup’s Quality, Values and Standards

We want to ensure that when you use Ruby Cup, our premium reusable menstrual cup, you feel absolutely comfortable and secure. A product this intimate needs to meet the highest standards of quality.

We are fully committed to this as it goes hand in hand with our high social and ethical standards and we require our manufacturer and all our partners to do so, too. You can read more about our production here.

What is Ruby Cup made of?

Ruby Cup is a high-quality menstrual cup, made of 100% medical grade silicone. The medical grade silicone is premium quality, CPSIA compliant (tested for lead and phthalates) and has passed the ISO 10993 biocompatibility test (biological evaluation of medical devices).

The material is hypoallergenic, non-absorbent and contains no harmful additives or chemicals. The material reaches FDA (The Food and Drug Administration of the United States) and the LFGB standards (German mandatory requirements that control products that come in contact with food, human skin, mucous membranes or endanger human health).

Ruby Cups are produced in strict accordance with ROHS regulations, adopted by the European Union in 2003 and has passed SGS quality control. Each new batch is going through the same testing procedures. Our manufacturer has been awarded the ISO 9001, a quality management certificate.

SGS

All quality and safety checks are done by SGS, a world leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. Each batch of Ruby Cup we produce is inspected by them.

FDA registration

Ruby Cup is currently not registered with the FDA, but we are in the process of being so. However, Ruby Cup is produced in strict accordance with ROHS regulations and has passed SGS quality control.

Ruby Cup is made of 100% medical grade silicone and the material reaches FDA and LFGB standards. Ruby Cup is hypoallergenic, latex- free and contains no BPA, PVC, acrylic, acrylate, elastomer, polyethylene phthalates, plastic, bleaches or toxins.

ISO certifications

The International Organization for Standardization is an independent, non-governmental international organisation with a membership of 162 national standards bodies.

Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market-relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.

Our manufacturer is equipped with the ISO 9001, a quality management certificate and the ISO 10993, a biocompatibility test performed on the raw material used to produce Ruby Cup.

Registered with the Vegan Society

We are very proud to be registered with The Vegan Society. This means that we, as Ruby Life Ltd., don’t test on animals and don’t commission animal testing.

We value transparency and believe it’s important to be very clear about the fact that all raw medical grade silicone is tested on animals. This is the unfortunate standard procedure required by the food and medical industry.

There is no menstrual cup on the market made from medical graded material that is free from animal testing, so if you are very strict about it, no medical graded silicone menstrual cup will be for you.

So how can we be registered with the Vegan Society? The Vegan Society tests if it is in our effective control to avoid animal testing. So if what counts for you is whether a company itself does not or commission or performs animal testing, then Ruby Cup can be a good choice for you, because as a company, we do not do tolerate animal testing.
